Step into a meaningful opportunity supporting middle school learners by guiding 7th and 8th graders through an engaging Social Studies curriculum. As a General Education Social Studies Teacher, you will inspire students at a pivotal stage in their academic journey, helping them develop critical thinking skills and a deeper understanding of history, civics, and geography.

Working a contract schedule Monday through Friday for 37.5 hours per week, you’ll be at the center of classroom activities—planning lessons, delivering direct instruction, and encouraging students to take an active role in discussions. Available start times are either 7:30 AM–3:30 PM or 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, offering some flexibility to suit your routine. Compensation ranges from $37.50 to $46.75 per hour, based on your experience and degree level.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Social Studies endorsement covering at least 7th and 8th grades.
  • Proven ability to manage a classroom and foster a supportive learning environment.
  • Experience delivering instruction in Social Studies at the middle school level preferred.
  • Skilled in creating lesson plans and modifying instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead 7th and 8th grade classrooms, ensuring lessons are engaging and aligned with learning standards.
  • Administer and grade tests, assignments, and projects.
  • Provide direct instruction and facilitate group activities or discussions.
  • Maintain records of student progress and deliver constructive feedback.
  • Support the growth and development of every student, encouraging their curiosity and participation.
