Grades 6 - 8 5th Grade General Education Teacher | Orland Park, Illinois

Step into a rewarding contract teaching opportunity near Orland Park, IL, shaping young minds as an English Language (ESL) educator for both elementary and junior high students. This split role dedicates half the week to serving 5th and 6th graders at a middle school setting, with the remainder spent teaching 7th and 8th graders at a junior high. With a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, you’ll experience a dynamic, fulfilling workweek supporting students at critical learning stages.

Key Requirements:

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an ESL endorsement for grades 5-8
• Preference for candidates with an additional bilingual PEL endorsement
• Experience as a General Education Teacher or ESL Teacher, particularly in grades 5-8
• Strong classroom management and direct instruction skills
• Ability to adapt curriculum for English language learners and diverse classrooms
• Excellent communication, organization, and student assessment abilities

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging English language instruction to grades 5-8, tailoring lessons for various proficiency levels
• Manage classroom activities, administer and grade tests, and support student progress
• Create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for all students, including English Language Learners
• Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to foster academic success
• Communicate regularly with families to provide updates on student achievement and growth

Pay for this contract position ranges from $37.50 to $46.75 per hour, dependent upon experience, degree level, and licensure.
