This split role dedicates half the week to serving 5th and 6th graders at a middle school setting, with the remainder spent teaching 7th and 8th graders at a junior high. With a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, you’ll experience a dynamic, fulfilling workweek supporting students at critical learning stages.
Key Requirements:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an ESL endorsement for grades 5-8
- Preference for candidates with an additional bilingual PEL endorsement
- Experience as a General Education Teacher or ESL Teacher, particularly in grades 5-8
- Strong classroom management and direct instruction skills
- Ability to adapt curriculum for English language learners and diverse classrooms
- Excellent communication, organization, and student assessment abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging English language instruction to grades 5-8, tailoring lessons for various proficiency levels
- Manage classroom activities, administer and grade tests, and support student progress
- Create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for all students, including English Language Learners
- Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to foster academic success
- Communicate regularly with families to provide updates on student achievement and growth
Pay for this contract position ranges from $37.50 to $46.75 per hour, dependent upon experience, degree level, and licensure.
