ELA English Language Arts General Education Teacher | Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

This contract position focuses on English Language Arts and offers the chance to make a significant impact by guiding students through a core reading program (EL) in a supportive middle school environment.

The classroom consists of 20-26 engaged learners, and your hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:15 AM to 4:15 PM, totaling 40 hours each week. For this role, compensation ranges from $33 to $43 per hour, reflecting your experience and credentials.

Key Qualifications:

• Proven classroom experience teaching 7th Grade ELA or similar grade and subject
• Deep familiarity with ELA curriculum and reading instruction
• Full Instructional I or II certification in ELA preferred; strong candidates with relevant experience and emergency certification will also be considered
• Ability to operate independently and confidently, as supervision will be limited
• Strong classroom management and communication skills

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality ELA instruction using the EL core reading program
• Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment for all students
• Monitor and assess student progress, tailoring instruction to meet diverse learning needs
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
• Cultivate a love for reading and writing among middle school students
