Middle School Elementary General Education Teacher | Washington, District of Columbia

This contract role offers a dynamic teaching experience for someone passionate about chess, robotics, and coding. You'll work with a diverse group of students ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade, helping to cultivate curiosity and skill development beyond traditional classroom hours.

This part-time position is perfect for individuals who thrive in hands-on, interactive settings and have the flexibility to travel between locations in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Engage with students across roughly ten different campuses and leave a lasting impact through engaging after-school programs.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Experience teaching in general education settings at the elementary, middle, or high school level
• Strong knowledge and enthusiasm for chess, robotics, and/or coding
• Ability and willingness to commute across Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia for program delivery
• Comfortable working with students in grades K-12
• Excellent communication skills and a talent for fostering student engagement
• Previous experience in after-school or enrichment settings is a plus

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and facilitate interactive after-school sessions for students with varying skill levels
• Teach foundational to advanced concepts in chess, robotics, and coding
• Collaborate with school staff to enhance program effectiveness and meet student needs
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
• Maintain a supportive, inclusive, and energetic classroom environment

You’ll enjoy a flexible schedule, working 5-10 hours per week during afternoon sessions (3-4pm, 4-5pm, or 5-6pm). This role is ideal for educators looking to enrich students’ lives while balancing other professional or personal commitments.
