An exciting part-time opportunity awaits educators eager to inspire K-12 students in the Washington, DC region and neighboring Maryland and Virginia areas. This contract position offers the unique challenge and reward of working with young learners at multiple campuses, fostering creativity and problem-solving beyond the traditional classroom.

In this role, you will:

  • Teach after-school sessions (5–10 hours per week) to K-12 students on topics in chess, robotics, and coding
  • Travel to various sites throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia (approximately 10 campuses)
  • Create an engaging, inclusive, and hands-on learning environment
  • Develop and adapt lesson plans that accommodate a range of skill levels and learning styles
  • Encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration in each session
  • Monitor student progress and provide valuable feedback to support individual growth
  • Work with school staff to coordinate schedules and ensure smooth program delivery

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Previous experience teaching elementary, middle, or high school students
  • Passion and proficiency in chess, robotics, and/or coding
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Flexible schedule availability during after-school hours (between 3–6pm)
  • The ability to commute across the DC metropolitan area, including Maryland and Virginia
  • Patience, adaptability, and a talent for making learning fun and accessible
