Middle School High School Teacher in Washington, DC

Share your passion for learning by inspiring students across the DMV area as a part-time Chess, Robotics, & Coding instructor. This flexible contract opportunity is perfect for creative educators eager to engage K-12 learners after school. You’ll have the chance to nurture problem-solving abilities, curiosity, and teamwork, all while sharing your love of logic and technology.

In this role, you’ll visit multiple campuses throughout Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia—no two days are exactly alike! Classes take place after school between 3–6pm for 5–10 hours weekly, fitting seamlessly around other work or commitments. Your energy and adaptability will help bring complex concepts alive through fun, hands-on lessons that build foundational STEM and critical thinking skills.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• Background in general education, with a teaching credential or certification (preferred)
• Experience teaching elementary, middle, or high school students
• Comfort and enthusiasm working with both beginner and advanced K-12 learners
• Knowledge of chess, robotics kits and platforms, and age-appropriate coding languages (Scratch, Python, etc.)
• Reliable transportation and willingness to commute to various campuses in DC, Maryland, and Virginia
• Flexibility, organizational skills, and strong classroom management abilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging chess, robotics, and coding lessons to small afterschool groups
• Foster an enjoyable learning environment that encourages creative exploration
• Prepare materials and adjust lesson plans to meet students' developmental needs
• Communicate with school staff and parents as needed
• Track student progress and provide feedback to support growth
