High School Middle School General Education Teacher | Washington Navy Yard, District of Columbia

Deliver engaging learning experiences as a part-time instructor specializing in Chess, Robotics, and Coding for K-12 students. This flexible, contract position offers an excellent opportunity to share your passion for STEM and strategic thinking with motivated young minds. Work directly with students across various grade levels—from elementary to high school—in after-school enrichment programs held on multiple campuses around the Washington, DC metropolitan area. You’ll inspire curiosity and creativity, helping students build skills that carry into the classroom and beyond.

Key Qualifications:

• Teaching certification or relevant classroom experience preferred
• Experience engaging K-12 students in group educational settings
• Strong knowledge of chess rules, beginner to intermediate; comfort with robotics kits (e.g., LEGO, VEX) and visual/text-based coding platforms (e.g., Scratch, Python)
• Ability to commute to campuses throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia
• Excellent communication skills, patience, and an enthusiastic approach to interactive learning
• Flexibility to work across diverse subjects: chess, robotics, coding
• Strong organizational skills and punctuality for after-school sessions

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver weekly chess, robotics, or coding lessons to small groups of K-12 students
• Plan engaging, age-appropriate activities that cater to a diverse range of learners
• Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages student participation
• Collaborate with school staff to track student progress and provide feedback
• Safely set up and manage classroom materials and technology
• Travel to assigned campus locations as scheduled
