This contract-based, part-time role is perfect for those who enjoy engaging with students in grades K-12 and are enthusiastic about leading after-school enrichment programs. You’ll facilitate creative, hands-on learning sessions tailored to a wide age range and help students build foundational and advanced skills in a fun, supportive environment.

Key Qualifications:

  • Experience as a General Education Teacher at the elementary, middle, or high school level
  • Strong background or demonstrated interest in chess, robotics, or coding instruction
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, approachable manner to students of varied abilities
  • Comfortable managing classrooms and creating a positive, energetic learning atmosphere
  • Willingness and flexibility to work across multiple campuses within Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia
  • Reliable transportation for commuting among sites as needed

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging after-school lessons in chess, robotics, and coding for students in K-12
  • Provide individualized support to help students develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and motivating classroom environment
  • Collaborate with school staff and adjust instruction as needed to meet diverse learner needs
  • Maintain necessary records of attendance and student progress
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel
