Elementary Middle School General Education Teacher | Washington Navy Yard, District of Columbia

Inspire the next generation of thinkers and innovators as a part-time Chess, Robotics, & Coding Teacher, working with curious minds from kindergarten through 12th grade. This contract role is ideal for passionate educators who thrive on sharing their knowledge and igniting excitement about STEM and strategic games. You’ll play a vital role guiding students in after-school enrichment at various campuses within the Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia area.

Key Qualifications:

• Prior teaching or instruction experience in a school setting (elementary, middle, or high school)
• Background in chess strategy and play, robotics, and/or coding (Scratch, Python, or similar platforms)
• Comfortable teaching mixed-age groups and adapting content for a range of developmental levels
• Ability and willingness to commute to up to 10 different locations across DC, Maryland, and Virginia
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills
• Enthusiasm for fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment for all learners

Role Responsibilities:

• Teach engaging, hands-on chess, robotics, and coding lessons to students K-12 in after-school programs
• Plan and adapt curriculum to fit students’ abilities and interests
• Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and energetic classroom atmosphere
• Manage classroom behavior and ensure the safety and participation of every student
• Model a passion for STEM, teamwork, and creative problem-solving
• Collaborate effectively with school staff to coordinate schedules and materials as needed
