Infant General Education Teacher – NSY
Location: North Chicago Area
Grade Level: 0–3
Start Date: July 10th
Schedule: Full-time, 8 hours per day, Monday–Friday
Start Time: TBD between 7:30 AM–9:00 AM
We are seeking a Montessori Infant/Toddler Teacher to support students ages 0–3 in a nurturing, developmentally appropriate classroom environment. This role is ideal for an educator who understands early childhood development and can create a warm, structured, and responsive learning space for infants and toddlers.
The teacher will support individualized learning, observe student development, and guide children through Montessori-based activities that encourage independence, curiosity, social-emotional growth, and foundational learning skills.
Caseload Details:
For children under 14 months, the ratio is 1 teacher to 4 students.
For children ages 15 to 36 months, the ratio is 1 teacher to 5 students.
Requirements:
Candidates must hold a MACTE-accredited Montessori Infant/Toddler Credential, such as AMS or AMI, paired with general DCFS staff qualifications and a high school diploma or GED.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide a safe, supportive, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment for infants and toddlers.
Use Montessori teaching strategies to support each child’s growth, independence, and learning.
Observe students’ developmental needs and match activities/materials accordingly.
Create individualized learning opportunities based on student interests, abilities, and milestones.
Maintain strong classroom leadership while fostering a calm, nurturing, and psychologically safe environment.
Support students’ social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
Communicate effectively with families, staff, and school leadership regarding student progress and needs.
Maintain compliance with classroom ratios, safety expectations, and DCFS requirements.

The ideal candidate is patient, nurturing, organized, and confident working with infants and toddlers. They should understand Montessori principles, early childhood development, and the importance of creating a peaceful classroom where young children feel safe, supported, and encouraged to grow.

Compensation for this position ranges from $27.87 to $47.87. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals.
