As a Sign Language Interpreter, you’ll work closely with 1-2 high school students, empowering their participation in classroom activities and school events. Your expertise in sign language will bridge communication between students, educators, and staff, fostering an inclusive atmosphere where every student can thrive.

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Proficiency and certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI), with prior experience in educational settings strongly preferred
  • Deep understanding of deaf culture and best practices in interpreting
  • Ability to interpret fluently between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Professionalism, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience supporting high school-age students is a plus

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and clear interpretation for assigned students in classroom and school-related activities
  • Collaborate with educators and educational staff to ensure students’ unique communication needs are met
  • Aid in the development of a supportive, accessible learning environment
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of the profession
  • Adapt interpreting methods as needed to suit the individual needs of each student
