Educational Interpreter in Augusta, ME

This is an immediate contract opportunity for a skilled ASL Interpreter to work full-time in a school setting near Augusta, ME. In this position, you will provide in-class sign language interpretation for a 9th-grade student, ensuring equitable access to instruction and educational engagement. The role runs from as soon as possible through the end of the school year and requires a commitment of six hours per day.

Desired Skills and Credentials:

• Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience as an educational interpreter preferred
• Ability to interpret live classroom instruction and interactions
• Current Maine-approved certification as one of the following:
  • Certified Interpreter
  • Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI)
  • Conditional Interpreter
  • Conditional Deaf Interpreter
• Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills
• Reliability and professionalism in an academic environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide real-time ASL interpretation for a 9th-grade student during all class activities and lessons
• Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, and peers
