School Interpreter - Corona, California

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a full-time Educational Interpreter for the upcoming academic year. In this role, you’ll work closely with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, providing vital interpretive services in educational settings. This contract position runs from August 6, 2026, through May 27, 2027, with 35 hours per week, enabling you to make a lasting impact in the classroom.

Key Qualifications:

• Experience providing interpreting services in a K-12 environment.
• Certification as an Educational Interpreter, or eligibility to obtain one in California.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Strong understanding of Deaf culture and the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• Ability to collaborate with teaching staff, students, and families.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa to support student participation in classroom activities.
• Assist teachers in adapting instructional materials and communication to meet student needs.
• Support students during classroom instruction, school events, and extracurricular activities as assigned.
• Consult with educators, specialists, and families to promote accessible learning environments.
• Advocate for students’ communication preferences and serve as a resource to school staff regarding Deaf culture and accessibility.
