Step into a meaningful role supporting students’ educational experiences as a Sign Language Interpreter. This full-time opportunity, based near Dalton, GA, is a contract position for the 2026/2027 school year. You will work collaboratively with educators while facilitating communication for 1-2 high school students, helping to ensure their inclusion and success in the classroom environment.

Ideal candidates are dedicated professionals with a passion for empowering others and expertise in interpreting within educational settings.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience as a sign language interpreter, preferably in a school or educational environment
  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) or equivalent credentials
  • Ability to communicate effectively with high school-aged students and staff
  • Strong sense of professionalism, confidentiality, and adaptability
  • Understanding of IEP processes and accommodations (preferred)
  • Commitment to supporting a positive learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language into sign language for high school students during classroom instruction, school events, and extracurricular activities
  • Support 1-2 students, adapting communication methods as needed for individual needs
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to facilitate academic engagement and social interaction
  • Accurately convey lesson content, instructions, and classroom discussions
  • Provide feedback and regular updates on student progress to relevant educational staff
  • Maintain a supportive, respectful relationship with students and educators alike
