In this opportunity, you’ll support elementary students across grades K–5, providing interpretive services as you move between classrooms to help foster access, engagement, and communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. You’ll collaborate with a dedicated team of educators in a welcoming elementary school setting, offering your skills to a diverse group of young learners from now through May 29, 2026.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Valid interpreter certification required
- EIPA score of 3.3 or higher
- Experience interpreting for elementary-grade students (K–5) preferred
- Comprehensive understanding of educational settings and interpreter roles
- Superior communication and collaboration abilities
- Flexibility to work with various students and teachers throughout the school day
- Commitment to upholding confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom lessons, instructions, activities, and school communications for students
- Move between different elementary classrooms based on student needs
- Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and administrators to ensure appropriate language access
- Modify and adapt interpretation methods as appropriate for student comprehension
- Help facilitate social interaction and participation for students during class and school activities
- Advocate for best practices and promote awareness of accessibility needs among school staff
