You'll work closely with one middle school-aged student, navigating both academic and social-emotional settings, while supporting classroom accessibility and fostering growth.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter (ASL proficiency required)
- Previous experience in educational settings, especially with middle school students, is preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Flexibility to work in various classroom and community environments
- Commitment to student advocacy and inclusive learning
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver real-time ASL interpretation for a primary student in academic and community settings
- Facilitate communication between the student, peers, and staff, promoting inclusion
- Provide ongoing academic and social-emotional support as part of the student's educational team
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and adhere to school guidelines and protocols
- Adapt to varying classroom needs between approximately 9:00 am–12:15 pm Monday–Friday, with possibility of extended hours on select days
- Transition between middle school classrooms and community-based programs as assigned
