Key Qualifications:
- Proven expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience interpreting in educational settings
- Understanding of middle school curricula, social-emotional learning, and individualized supports
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, related service providers, and families
- Comfortable transitioning between classroom and community-based learning environments
- Professional certification in sign language interpretation (preferred)
- Patience, adaptability, and a passion for equitable student access
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one ASL interpretation for a designated student in middle school classrooms
- Facilitate communication during academic instruction and social-emotional learning activities
- Support student participation in Community Transitions programming and community outings, as assigned
- Collaborate with educational teams to adapt approaches and ensure consistent support
- Foster student independence by reinforcing learning strategies and encouraging peer interaction
- Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality at all times
