Make a meaningful difference as a Sign Language Interpreter working with middle school students and young adults in Community Transitions programs. In this dynamic, contract-to-hire opportunity, you’ll use your interpreting skills to support academic access, promote inclusion, and empower a student’s overall learning experience. Start on September 31, 2026, with the assignment concluding June 11, 2027. This position is envisioned as less than full-time and hours may fluctuate as student needs evolve. Key Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience interpreting in educational settings
  • Understanding of middle school curricula, social-emotional learning, and individualized supports
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, related service providers, and families
  • Comfortable transitioning between classroom and community-based learning environments
  • Professional certification in sign language interpretation (preferred)
  • Patience, adaptability, and a passion for equitable student access

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one ASL interpretation for a designated student in middle school classrooms
  • Facilitate communication during academic instruction and social-emotional learning activities
  • Support student participation in Community Transitions programming and community outings, as assigned
  • Collaborate with educational teams to adapt approaches and ensure consistent support
  • Foster student independence by reinforcing learning strategies and encouraging peer interaction
  • Maintain professional conduct and confidentiality at all times
