This contract position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact for visually impaired elementary students, specifically supporting a full-time 2nd grader who reads Braille at one primary location, along with several 2nd grade students requiring Large Print materials at another site just minutes away. The possibility exists to consolidate your work to a single school if logistics allow.

Key Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Braillist and Interpreter in a school environment
  • Ability to translate curriculum and resources quickly and efficiently (aiming for materials 1-2 weeks ahead of schedule)
  • Collaborative, proactive approach and strong organizational skills
  • Track record of working seamlessly with Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) and adapting to shifting priorities
  • Familiarity with Rogue Embosser, Duxbury Software, HMH platforms for Reading/Math, and STEM content is highly desired
  • Self-starter with attention to detail and the drive to deliver timely educational materials

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and produce Braille and Large Print instructional materials to meet students’ classroom needs
  • Coordinate closely with TVI, classroom teachers, and staff to stay ahead of the curriculum
  • Ensure accuracy, clarity, and timely completion of all materials, maintaining open communication with the instructional team
  • Travel between two nearby school locations as needed, with flexibility for potential consolidation
