This contract role is designed for someone passionate about serving visually impaired students in a collaborative, fast-paced school environment. The main assignment involves working with a full-time 2nd-grade Braille student at one location, while also assisting several 2nd graders who require large print materials at a nearby campus (within a short commute). There’s flexibility to potentially combine both needs into one school.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Braille transcription and large print material preparation
- Ability to interpret in school settings for students with vision impairments
- Experience collaborating with Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Skilled at managing multiple ongoing tasks with attention to detail
- Quick turnaround on assignments—capable of staying at least 1–2 weeks ahead of curriculum needs
- Familiarity with Rogue Embosser, Duxbury Software, HMH for Reading/Math, and STEM classwork resources is highly desirable
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare and deliver Braille and large print materials tailored for 2nd-grade students
- Collaborate closely with the TVI to support student learning
- Stay proactive in communicating task status and supply needs
- Ensure prompt, efficient material turnaround to align with lesson planning
- Adapt to changing student locations as discussions progress regarding consolidation
