The need is for someone who delivers materials quickly and maintains their workflow 1-2 weeks ahead of curriculum delivery. Collaboration is important—you’ll work closely with the Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) and play an integral part in ensuring students have accessible resources ready when they need them.
Qualifications & Experience Sought:
- Proficiency in braille transcription and document preparation for K-12 learning materials
- Experience or background as an educational interpreter, especially within school settings
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to track multiple ongoing tasks
- Timely completion and rapid turnaround for braille materials (staying 1-2 weeks ahead)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with TVI and school staff
- Familiarity with systems such as Rogue Embosser, Duxbury Software, HMH (Reading/Math), and STEM curriculum tools is highly desirable
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate instructional materials into braille, ensuring consistent and accessible educational content
- Deliver finished materials swiftly to meet curriculum requirements and schedule
- Communicate and coordinate with the TVI to prioritize needs and maintain alignment with student programming
- Stay on top of daily and weekly responsibilities to support seamless student learning experiences
