Make a difference supporting visually impaired students by providing essential Braille and large print materials in a school setting. This contract opportunity involves assisting a 2nd grade student needing Braille support at one location and several 2nd grade students who require large print materials at another site, just a short commute away. The possibility exists to consolidate these roles at a single school for greater efficiency, depending on school plans.
Key Qualifications:
- Experience preparing Braille and/or large print educational materials for elementary-aged students
- Proficiency with Rogue Embosser and Duxbury Software, or willingness to quickly learn these tools
- Familiarity with curriculum systems such as HMH (Reading/Math) and STEM platforms for classroom assignments
- Ability to deliver materials with a quick turnaround—ideally working 1-2 weeks ahead of schedule
- Highly organized, efficient, and comfortable working collaboratively with Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Strong initiative and the ability to manage priorities independently
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create and provide Braille and/or large print versions of classroom assignments, textbooks, and other learning resources
- Maintain open communication with instructional staff to anticipate curriculum needs
- Coordinate scheduling and material production between two nearby school locations, with potential for role consolidation
- Ensure accuracy and readability in all Braille and large print materials produced
- Remain up-to-date on best practices and technology for accessible educational materials
