Step into a meaningful role making a direct impact on middle school students as an ASL Interpreter for the upcoming academic year. In this contract-to-hire position, you'll play a vital part in ensuring accessible communication and learning experiences for a middle school student by providing professional sign language interpretation and support in both classroom and community settings. Your fluency in ASL and dedication to helping students achieve academic and social-emotional growth will be key in this supportive educational environment.

Position Details:

  • Contract spans from September 31, 2026, to June 11, 2027
  • Anticipated hours are 9:00 am–12:15 pm, Monday through Friday, with the possibility of extended hours (potentially up to 2:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays)
  • Serve various middle school classrooms and Community Transitions settings
  • Primary focus: Supporting one student’s academic, social, and emotional development

What We’re Looking For:

  • Demonstrated experience as an educational Sign Language Interpreter
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Skills supporting middle school students, especially those requiring individualized interpretation
  • Comfortable adapting between classroom environments and community-based settings
  • Ability to provide both academic and social-emotional support
  • Flexibility for occasional changes in schedule or location

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver accurate ASL interpretation in classroom lessons and school activities
  • Support the student’s involvement in academic tasks and peer interactions
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families for consistent progress
  • Adapt interpretation and communication approaches to meet evolving student needs
  • Participate in both middle school and Community Transitions programming as required
