In this dynamic role, you’ll ensure all curriculum materials are accurately and promptly transcribed, helping students access the resources they need to thrive. You’ll collaborate closely with a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), demonstrating attention to detail and a proactive approach to meeting educational deadlines.

Desired Background and Skills:

  • Experience as a Braillist and/or Interpreter in educational environments
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently produce braille materials
  • Commitment to staying 1-2 weeks ahead of curriculum scheduling
  • Comfortable collaborating with a TVI and coordinating on tasks and priorities
  • Familiarity with specialized tools and systems, including Rogue Embosser, Duxbury Software, HMH (Reading/Math), and STEM course applications—experience with these platforms strongly preferred
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Capacity for fast turnaround on time-sensitive projects

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and transcribe learning materials, tests, and assignments into braille as required by the district’s timeline
  • Work closely with the TVI to align on priorities and track student needs
  • Remain organized and communicative, ensuring all resources are ready ahead of instructional delivery
  • Maintain knowledge of new technologies and updates related to braille transcription
