What you bring:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong understanding of Deaf culture
- Experience working as an interpreter in educational settings, preferably within K-12 schools
- Ability to interpret both one-on-one and in group/classroom situations
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and listening skills
- Strong organizational abilities and adaptability in dynamic classroom environments
- Relevant certifications for interpreting in schools (state or nationally recognized)
- Understanding of confidentiality and professional ethics related to student information
What you’ll do:
- Interpret spoken language into sign language (and vice versa) during classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
- Support students in accessing curriculum and participating fully in school life
- Collaborate with teachers, special educators, and staff to tailor support as needed for individual students
- Assist in fostering an inclusive environment for Deaf and hard of hearing students
- Maintain clear, professional documentation related to interpreting services
- Participate in educational team meetings and contribute insights for student success
