What you bring:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong understanding of Deaf culture
  • Experience working as an interpreter in educational settings, preferably within K-12 schools
  • Ability to interpret both one-on-one and in group/classroom situations
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and listening skills
  • Strong organizational abilities and adaptability in dynamic classroom environments
  • Relevant certifications for interpreting in schools (state or nationally recognized)
  • Understanding of confidentiality and professional ethics related to student information

What you’ll do:

  • Interpret spoken language into sign language (and vice versa) during classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
  • Support students in accessing curriculum and participating fully in school life
  • Collaborate with teachers, special educators, and staff to tailor support as needed for individual students
  • Assist in fostering an inclusive environment for Deaf and hard of hearing students
  • Maintain clear, professional documentation related to interpreting services
  • Participate in educational team meetings and contribute insights for student success
