Step into a meaningful role supporting the academic journey of a middle school student as an American Sign Language Interpreter. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers a unique blend of environments—working within middle school classrooms and potentially Community Transitions settings, serving a single student who requires dedicated ASL interpretation and educational support. The position is set to begin on September 31, 2026, and continue through June 11, 2027.

The typical schedule runs from 9:00 am to 12:15 pm, Monday through Friday, with a possibility of extended afternoons on Tuesdays and Thursdays, providing a consistent routine while allowing for some flexibility. This role is ideal for someone passionate about fostering accessibility and encouraging both academic and social-emotional growth in students.

Desired Qualifications:

• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in educational settings
• Ability to collaborate with educators and related service staff
• Sensitivity to the needs of students with diverse abilities, particularly within the middle school age range
• Certification or credentials in ASL interpreting preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver clear, accurate interpretation services for one assigned student within various classroom and community settings
• Support the student’s access to academic content and participation in classroom activities
• Facilitate communication between the student, peers, and teaching staff
• Assist in fostering social-emotional learning opportunities as required
• Collaborate with educational teams and participate in planning as needed
