Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate ASL Paraprofessional to support Deaf and Hard of Hearing students during the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will be proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Working under the direction of certified teachers, Teachers of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, and school administrators, the ASL Paraprofessional will provide communication support, instructional assistance, and classroom accommodations to help students access the curriculum and participate fully in the school community.

Essential Responsibilities
Provide ASL interpretation and communication support for students throughout the school day.
Assist students with classroom instruction, assignments, and educational activities.
Support the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and classroom accommodations.
Reinforce teacher-directed instruction in individual, small-group, and classroom settings.
Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers using American Sign Language.
Assist with classroom management while encouraging student independence.
Support students during lunch, recess, field trips, assemblies, and other school activities as needed.
Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and information.
Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and school staff to support student success.
Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
Qualifications

Required:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or related setting.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred:

Associate degree or higher.
Experience supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a school setting.
Knowledge of special education practices and IEP implementation.
Strong ASL communication skills.
Patience, professionalism, and empathy.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school environment.
Positive attitude and commitment to student success.

Work Schedule
School calendar: 2026–2027 School Year
Monday–Friday
School-day hours (approximately 35–40 hours per week)
