Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting skills
• Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational or school setting
• Knowledge of confidentiality and ethical standards for interpreters
• Ability to adapt interpreting styles to meet student and teacher needs
• Certification from recognized interpreting bodies (RID, BEI, or equivalent) preferred
• Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities
• Flexibility to work with students of various age groups and learning styles

Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate, unbiased interpretation services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
• Facilitate communication between students, instructional staff, and peers
• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, assemblies, and extracurricular activities
• Support students in accessing curriculum and participating in school life
• Maintain detailed and confidential records as required
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other professionals to support individualized education plans
• Participate in team meetings and professional development when appropriate
