Bring your specialized expertise to make a difference in the education of visually impaired students. This contract opportunity calls for a talented professional skilled in interpretation and Braille transcription to support a vibrant learning community near Weatherford, TX. Your work will directly empower elementary-aged students to engage more fully in their academic journey.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficient Braillist with prior experience in educational settings
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and transcribe instructional materials efficiently
- Familiarity with Rogue Embosser, Duxbury Software, HMH Reading/Math, and STEM curriculum tools preferred
- Quick turnaround capabilities—able to prepare Braille and large print materials ahead of schedule
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and reliability
- Able to collaborate effectively with Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) and adapt to evolving needs
- Experience serving multiple students in various locations is an advantage
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide Braille and large print materials for a full-time second-grade Braille student at one location, as well as several second-grade students who require large print at a nearby campus (only a short commute needed)
- Work proactively to ensure all adapted materials are ready at least 1-2 weeks before curriculum delivery
- Liaise closely with the TVI to track upcoming instructional needs and adapt lesson content as required
- Maintain and utilize Braille transcription and printing systems to meet student learning goals
- Ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all adapted educational resources
