Grades 6 - 8 Grades 9 - 12 Life Skills Teacher in Alabaster, AL

Key Qualifications:

• Experience teaching life skills or special education across elementary, middle, or high school grades (K–12)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to adapt lesson plans for diverse learning needs and varying grade levels
• Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
• Empathy, patience, and a passion for helping students achieve goals both in and out of the classroom

Primary Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging instruction on self-care, communication, social interaction, and independent living
• Customize lessons to align with student IEPs and grade-level requirements
• Track student progress, document outcomes, and adjust strategies as needed
• Collaborate with families, teachers, and specialists to provide holistic support
• Foster a safe, encouraging classroom environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive
• Use effective classroom management techniques and promote positive behaviors
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and parent conferences
