K-5 Grades 9 - 12 Special Education Life Skills Teacher | Birmingham, Alabama

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid teaching certification, with a focus in Special Education or Life Skills instruction preferred
• Experience teaching or supporting students in grades K-12
• In-depth understanding of life skills curriculum, functional academics, and IEP implementation
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities with students, staff, and families
• Patience, empathy, and a positive mindset to motivate students with varying needs
• Ability to adapt lesson plans and materials to meet individual learning targets
• Familiarity with classroom management strategies and differentiated instruction

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, hands-on lessons tailored to students’ functional and life skills needs
• Support students in mastering self-care, communication, independence, and social skills
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Collaborate closely with support staff and families to ensure holistic student development
• Track progress and adjust instruction for optimal student growth
