Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education or Life Skills Instruction
- Experience working with students in grades K-5, 6-8, or 9-12 (multi-grade experience is a plus)
- Ability to develop and adapt individualized lesson plans focused on practical life skills
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management abilities
- Familiarity with IEP frameworks and documentation
- Dedication to fostering independence and confidence in diverse student populations
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement life skills curricula that empower students to succeed both in and out of the classroom
- Create a positive, inclusive atmosphere to encourage participation and engagement
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure students’ academic and personal growth
- Assess student progress, modify instructional strategies, and maintain accurate records as required
- Provide instruction in daily living activities, social skills, vocational readiness, and functional academics
- Support students in developing essential self-advocacy and decision-making skills
