Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education or Life Skills Instruction
  • Experience working with students in grades K-5, 6-8, or 9-12 (multi-grade experience is a plus)
  • Ability to develop and adapt individualized lesson plans focused on practical life skills
  • Strong communication, organization, and classroom management abilities
  • Familiarity with IEP frameworks and documentation
  • Dedication to fostering independence and confidence in diverse student populations

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement life skills curricula that empower students to succeed both in and out of the classroom
  • Create a positive, inclusive atmosphere to encourage participation and engagement
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure students’ academic and personal growth
  • Assess student progress, modify instructional strategies, and maintain accurate records as required
  • Provide instruction in daily living activities, social skills, vocational readiness, and functional academics
  • Support students in developing essential self-advocacy and decision-making skills
