Grades K - 5 Grades 9 - 12 Life Skills Teacher in Charlottesville, VA

Key Qualifications:

• Valid teaching license or certification appropriate for K–12 or special education

• Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to manage a classroom and adapt methods to varying developmental stages

What You’ll Do:

• Develop, implement, and modify lessons that foster practical life skills—such as daily living routines, social skills, and community integration
• Collaborate with general education teachers, instructional assistants, and related service providers to meet students’ individualized education plans
• Collect and track data to measure student progress, adapting strategies as needed
• Engage families in their child’s learning and communicate regularly about achievements and goals
• Create a positive, inclusive atmosphere that encourages student confidence and independence
• Support students during community-based instruction and vocational training activities
