K-5 Grades 9 - 12 Special Education Life Skills Teacher | Columbiana, Alabama

Support students’ growth and independence while teaching Life Skills in an engaging school environment. This contract position offers the opportunity to work with students across a variety of grade levels, from kindergarten through high school, helping each child develop essential skills for lifelong success.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid teaching certification in Special Education or relevant area (or eligibility to obtain)
• Experience working with students in grades K-12, especially those with diverse learning needs
• Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and evidence-based life skills instruction
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
• Adaptability and creativity to meet students at their unique developmental stages

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach life skills curriculum to students in grades K-5, 6-8, and 9-12
• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to IEP goals
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom climate promoting student confidence and independence
• Track progress and communicate regularly with families and school staff regarding student development
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the best outcomes for each student
• Integrate practical activities that prepare students for real-world situations and post-school life
