K-5 Grades 6 - 8 Life Skills Special Education Teacher - Dallas, Texas

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience teaching life skills or special education in K-12 settings
• Ability to adapt to multiple age groups and grade levels with flexibility
• Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with teachers, staff, and families
• Familiarity with developing and implementing individualized educational plans (IEPs)
• Patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering a positive classroom environment
• Valid teaching certification (as required for the state and grade levels)
• Previous experience as a Life Skills or Special Education Teacher preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons to develop practical daily living, social, and vocational skills
• Assess students’ abilities and needs, adapting instruction for diverse learners
• Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to provide holistic student support
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and participate in IEP meetings
• Support students in self-advocacy and independence within the school environment
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding goals and progress
