Grades 9 - 12 K-5 Life Skills Special Education Teacher - Decatur, Alabama

What we’re looking for:

• Experience delivering life skills curriculum to students in grades K-5, 6-8, or 9-12
• Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and ability to adapt instruction to varying ability levels
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
• Ability to foster a supportive, engaging classroom environment
• Approachable, patient, and enthusiastic about student growth
• Relevant state teaching certification (or eligibility for certification) in Special Education or related area
• Prior school or classroom teaching experience strongly preferred

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing direct instruction in daily living skills, social-emotional development, and vocational preparation
• Designing age-appropriate lesson plans and hands-on activities for students with diverse learning needs
• Monitoring student progress and maintaining detailed documentation
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement IEP goals
• Supporting inclusion and ensuring a safe, positive learning atmosphere
• Communicating regularly with families to discuss student growth and address concerns
