Step into a meaningful and dynamic contract opportunity working directly with a high school student who is paralyzed but cognitively high functioning. This is a unique role suited for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) eager to make a tangible difference through 1:1 care. The position is for 30 hours per week, and you’ll enjoy Wednesdays off as the student does not attend school on those days.

This assignment requires specialized attention and compassion, as you’ll support the student both in the school environment and while riding the school bus. Your nursing expertise, particularly any experience with ventilator care, will be fully valued and utilized as you help create an empowering atmosphere for the student’s academic and personal journey.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current LPN license and certification required
  • Experience working in schools is highly desirable
  • Prior ventilator care exposure is essential
  • Ability to ride the bus to and from school with the student daily
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration with school staff, student, and family
  • Compassion, patience, and flexibility to respond to changing student needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide continuous 1:1 medical support to a high school student throughout the school day
  • Ensure student safety and comfort while transporting on the school bus
  • Monitor and assist with ventilator equipment as needed
  • Document care provided and communicate effectively with healthcare team members and family
  • Foster a supportive, respectful, and engaging learning environment
