This contract position focuses on providing dedicated, 1:1 nursing support for a high-functioning, cognitively able student who is paralyzed and requires specialized medical care throughout the school day.

Key Details:

  • 30 hours per week—enjoy having Wednesdays off, as the student does not attend school that day
  • Bus transportation assistance is required; accompany the student to and from school daily
  • Ventilator experience is strongly preferred to ensure the best care and support

Ideal Background and Qualifications:

  • Current, active LPN license in the state
  • Prior experience in a school setting or working with pediatric students is an asset
  • Certified LPN with hands-on vent care experience is highly valued
  • Comfortable supporting students with physical disabilities while promoting their independence and inclusion
  • Collaborative and flexible approach, ready to adapt to evolving needs as they arise
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with the student, family, and school staff

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver compassionate, one-on-one care to a high school student throughout the school day
  • Provide necessary medical interventions, closely monitor health status, and respond to emergencies as required
  • Ensure safety on the bus, assisting with transitions in and out of the school environment
  • Follow an individualized healthcare plan in coordination with the school and family
  • Support the student’s participation in academic and school activities as fully as possible
