A rewarding opportunity is available for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide dedicated one-on-one care for a student in a school setting. This contract position is located in the Aurora, IL area, with occasional duties in St. Charles, IL. The role focuses on delivering specialized nursing support to a student with Down Syndrome, ensuring their health and well-being throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one nursing care, including approximately eight G-tube feedings daily.
  • Monitor blood glucose levels using the Blue Loop system.
  • Administer insulin and perform carbohydrate counting for effective diabetic management.
  • Collaborate with school staff to maintain a safe and supportive environment for the student.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed health records in compliance with school policies and health regulations.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Current and valid LPN/LVN license.
  • Experience in pediatric nursing or school nursing preferred.
  • Knowledge and skill in G-tube feeding procedures.
  • Proficiency in diabetic care, including blood glucose monitoring and insulin administration.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students, families, and school personnel.
  • Compassionate, attentive, and detail-oriented approach to nursing care.

Location:

  • Primarily based in Aurora, IL, with some responsibilities in St. Charles, IL.
