Exciting opportunities await compassionate nursing professionals with a passion for supporting students in an educational environment. This contract position is ideal for a skilled nurse ready to contribute within a dynamic school community in the Oak Lawn area for the 2026-2027 school year. The selected individual will report directly to the Building Principal and serve as a critical resource for both students and staff.

Qualifications & Experience Desired:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or Professional Educator License with School Nurse Endorsement (SN); Certified School Nurse (CSN), or holds other licensure that highly qualifies for a school nurse position
  • Prior experience providing nursing care to elementary or middle school-aged children
  • Familiarity with school settings and the unique medical needs of children within an educational context
  • Understanding of how public schools support economic and community development
  • Genuine commitment to the school’s mission and values within the broader community
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Experience in the IEP process, or a willingness to learn
  • Willingness to engage with or learn play-based evaluation models
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively as part of a multidisciplinary team as well as independently
  • Excellent organizational skills and an aptitude for managing multiple priorities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct nursing services to students and staff during the school day
  • Manage care plans and treatments for students with ongoing medical needs
  • Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to support student well-being and access to education
  • Participate in IEP meetings, documentation, and support the development and implementation of individualized care
  • Contribute to building a healthy and inclusive school environment
