An opportunity is available for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to provide dedicated 1-to-1 nursing care within an elementary school setting in Bridgeport, CT. This contract position supports a medically fragile 6-year-old student with specialized health needs related to Leukodystrophy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized nursing care throughout the school day, approximately 5-6 hours daily, totaling around 30 hours weekly.
- Monitor and manage medical conditions associated with Leukodystrophy, ensuring the student's safety and well-being.
- Collaborate closely with the student's healthcare team, school staff, and family to support health plans and medical requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care, medication administration, and any health-related observations.
- Respond promptly and effectively to any medical emergencies or changes in the student's condition.
Qualifications:
- Valid LPN or LVN license.
- Experience providing nursing care in school settings or pediatric care preferred.
- Knowledge of chronic and complex medical conditions, particularly Leukodystrophy, is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
- Clear communication skills to collaborate effectively with educators, healthcare providers, and families.
This contract position begins immediately and continues through the end of the school year. The work environment is a public elementary school, and the professional will be instrumental in supporting the student’s educational and health needs.
