Bring your nursing expertise to a meaningful assignment supporting the educational experience of a dedicated student near Cambridge, MA! This rewarding contract position offers an opportunity for an experienced LPN or RN to provide 1:1 care for a male student attending an out-of-district program. The role centers on ensuring the student’s health and well-being throughout the school day, including transportation, with a consistent, nurturing presence.
As part of this assignment, you’ll enjoy a predictable schedule of approximately 40 hours per week, aligning with the school calendar. The district anticipates ongoing need through the end of the 2025/2026 school year, including summer, with a strong likelihood of extension into the 2026/2027 year. Reliable care is essential, so the right candidate will embrace continuity and relationship-building.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted Massachusetts LPN or RN license is required
- Prior school, pediatric, or 1:1 nursing experience is highly valued
- Experience providing nursing care for students with complex or unique medical needs
- Strong documentation, communication, and teamwork skills
- Compassion, patience, and the ability to foster trust with students and families
Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 nursing care to a student during school and transportation hours
- Administer medications, monitor symptoms, and manage medical devices as needed
- Collaborate with school staff, healthcare providers, and family members
- Maintain accurate, confidential medical records
- Respond promptly and effectively to any health concerns or emergencies
