This contract position stretches through the full upcoming school year, with the option to continue during summer 2027. This role centers around providing dedicated 1:1 care for a student who uses a wheelchair and requires support with tracheostomy, G-tube feeds, toileting, and suctioning. You’ll make a difference each day, helping create a safe and engaging learning environment.
What you’ll bring:
- Valid Massachusetts LPN or RN license
- Experience in school nursing or with pediatric care, especially for students with medical complexities
- Comfort performing trach care, G-tube feeds, suctioning, and toileting support
- Commitment to a full school-year contract and summer extension
- Willingness to ride the van with the student as part of your daily routine
- Compassion, patience, and excellent communication skills
Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Deliver attentive 1:1 medical care, ensuring student safety and comfort throughout the school day and during transportation
- Manage trach, G-tube, suctioning, and toileting needs per care plan
- Collaborate with school staff, educators, and families to provide holistic support
- Accurately document care provided and monitor for any health changes
- Foster an inclusive, nurturing atmosphere so the student can fully participate in their education
