This contract position offers the chance to make a direct impact on students’ health and well-being, working closely with students, staff, and families. Reporting to the Building Principal, this role plays a key part in supporting the mission of the school and the surrounding community.

Key qualifications include:

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or holding a Professional Educator License with a School Nurse Endorsement (SN), or a Certified School Nurse (CSN)
  • Demonstrated experience in elementary or middle school environments
  • Prior success in addressing the medical needs of children
  • Familiarity with the requirements and significance of individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Understanding of a public school’s role in both community and economic growth
  • Strong skills in interpersonal communication and collaboration
  • Ability to adapt quickly, multitask, and contribute both independently and as part of a dynamic team
  • Interest in, or willingness to learn, play-based evaluation approaches

Main responsibilities involve:

  • Providing preventive health services, interventions, and first aid to students and staff
  • Assessing and addressing student medical needs throughout the school day
  • Participating actively in IEP meetings and completing related documentation
  • Collaborating with educators, families, and outside providers to support student success
  • Maintaining accurate health records and ensuring compliance with state and district protocols
  • Educating students and staff on health-related topics as needed
