School-Based Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) | Derby, Kansas

This role is based in a school setting near Derby, KS, working 1:1 with a 12th-grade student. Hours follow the staff schedule, from 7:40 AM to 3:10 PM, ensuring work-life balance and consistency.

You’ll work closely with the student, who presents with complex care needs, including a tracheostomy, GI tube, wheelchair mobility, and multiple medical diagnoses such as intractable epilepsy, spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, global developmental delay, and chronic lung conditions. Your expertise will directly impact the student’s safety and quality of life throughout the school day.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Current, valid LPN or LVN licensure in the state
• Recent nursing experience in pediatric or school settings preferred
• Proficient in trach and GI tube care, seizure management, and respiratory support
• Familiarity with working alongside multidisciplinary school staff, students, and families
• Ability to respond calmly and efficiently in medical emergencies
• Comfortable with computer documentation and daily charting tasks

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide continuous 1:1 nursing care during school hours
• Manage and monitor medical devices: tracheostomy, GI tube, VNS, and more
• Administer medications and perform necessary medical procedures per care plan
• Recognize, assess, and respond promptly to seizure activity or respiratory distress
• Support safe feeds, airway management, and routine mobility assistance
• Foster a supportive, compassionate, and respectful school environment
