In this role, you’ll work closely with a student with Down Syndrome, focusing on both g-tube feedings and comprehensive diabetic management. Your day will involve monitoring blood glucose via Blue Loop, administering insulin, and performing carb counting to help the student achieve their best in the classroom.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active LPN or LVN license in Illinois
  • Previous pediatric nursing experience, especially in an educational or school setting
  • Skilled in g-tube feedings and diabetic care management
  • Confident with blood glucose monitoring technology (such as Blue Loop)
  • Ability to administer insulin and perform carbohydrate calculations
  • Patient, nurturing, and able to communicate well with students, staff, and families
  • Detail-oriented and able to document care accurately

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee approximately eight daily g-tube feedings, maintaining safety and comfort
  • Proactively monitor the student’s blood glucose throughout the school day
  • Administer insulin and adjust doses as required based on nutritional intake
  • Collaborate with faculty and guardians as part of the student’s care team
  • Provide discreet, dignified support to encourage independence
  • Maintain clear documentation and adhere to school policies and medical protocols
