School LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) - Elgin, Illinois

Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Active LPN or LVN license, with eligibility for school nursing assignments
• Previous experience working in pediatric, school, or special needs environments preferred
• Comfortable providing diabetic management: monitoring blood glucose levels, carb counting, and insulin administration
• Proficiency with or willingness to learn digital platforms such as Blue Loop for diabetes care
• Confident in performing g-tube feedings and monitoring for proper technique and safety
• Compassion, clear communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a school team

Main Responsibilities:

• Deliver 1:1 nursing support for a student with Down Syndrome, ensuring safety and dignity at all times
• Conduct approximately 8 g-tube feedings daily, adhering to all medical protocols
• Track and document blood glucose levels and administer insulin as necessary
• Calculate and manage carbohydrate intake in coordination with student meals
• Communicate with school staff, teachers, and families regarding the student's health status and daily needs
• Respond promptly to medical needs or emergencies in accordance with established school procedures
