A healthcare professional with Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) credentials is sought for a contract position supporting a student in a school setting. This role involves providing focused 1:1 nursing care, including specialized feeding and diabetic management. The location offers experience working in a school environment, specifically within the Elgin and St. Charles, IL area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 nursing care to a student requiring assistance with feeding and diabetic monitoring
  • Administer approximately eight gastrostomy tube (G-tube) feedings daily
  • Monitor blood glucose levels using the Blue Loop system
  • Administer insulin and perform carbohydrate counting to manage diabetes effectively
  • Collaborate with school staff and healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Maintain accurate records of nursing interventions and student’s health status
  • Support the student’s overall well-being and safety throughout the school day

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current and valid LPN or LVN license
  • Experience in pediatric nursing or school nurse settings preferred
  • Knowledge and skills in managing diabetes, including insulin administration and blood glucose monitoring
  • Familiarity with gastrostomy tube feeding procedures
  • Ability to work independently in a 1:1 nursing role
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • CPR certification is desirable
