This position seeks an RN or LPN (with RN preferred) who is passionate about providing healthcare support to students with unique and complex medical needs.
In this role, you will work approximately 8:45 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, focusing all your attention and expertise on one non-verbal student with autism who also has diabetes and some respiratory concerns. There will be no bus duty or reassignment, allowing you to dedicate your care and observation entirely to one child.
What we’re looking for:
- Current RN or LPN/LVN license (RN preferred)
- Experience in school, pediatric, or special education settings highly valued
- Skilled at monitoring diabetes (Dexcom experience highly desirable)
- Comfortable following individualized healthcare plans and collaborating with educational staff
- Ability to provide compassionate care to non-verbal students and those with special needs
- Familiarity with feeding through pureed foods and monitoring respiratory status
What you’ll be doing:
- Closely monitor the student’s diabetes using Dexcom technology and respond per care plan instructions
- Feed student pureed foods, maintaining safety and dignity at all times
- Observe respiratory status and implement interventions as needed
- Coordinate care and updates with the building nurse and instructional staff
- Maintain accurate health records and documentation
- Provide a safe, supportive environment enabling the student’s access to learning
