This part-time contract position offers a rewarding opportunity to work with an Autistic Support student who is ambulatory, independent, and requires plenty of verbal prompts, but no hands-on care. Based in Hanover, PA, you’ll join the student in the community—at workplaces and activities—while providing essential seizure monitoring and emergency response as needed. The school’s building nurse manages medications, ensuring you can focus exclusively on student support.
This position runs from August 18, 2026, through May 27, 2027, with a highly flexible schedule. Workdays vary (2 to 4 per week), with supervision communicating schedules in advance. Hours typically fall between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., making this ideal for those seeking flexibility or balancing other responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- Active Pennsylvania LPN or LVN license required
- Experience in school, pediatric, or community-based nursing preferred
- Comfortable traveling within the community alongside students
- Strong verbal communication skills, able to provide encouragement and clear prompts
- Prepared to monitor for seizures and respond appropriately in emergencies
- Compassionate, patient, and genuinely invested in student success
Responsibilities:
- Travel with one Autistic Support student to community engagements
- Monitor for seizure activity, provide emergency medication if needed
