Step into a rewarding role providing dedicated care and support to a middle school student in a community-centered setting. This part-time contract opportunity is designed for an LPN/LVN who enjoys flexibility and working beyond the traditional classroom. Based at a middle school and traveling locally, you’ll play a key part in a transition program supporting a male student with autistic support needs from August 18, 2026, through May 27, 2027.
This position focuses on consistent presence, verbal prompting, and safety monitoring—no hands-on care or medication administration required at school, as the building nurse manages these responsibilities. Your role will involve keeping a vigilant eye on the student for seizure activity, being ready to administer emergency medication if needed, and assisting as the student participates in community work experiences.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current, active Pennsylvania LPN license
- Previous experience in school nursing or with students on the autism spectrum is highly valued
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide clear, encouraging prompts
- Flexibility to adapt to varying weekly schedules and community-based routines
- Calm, attentive, and reliable presence
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and support student in transition and community engagement activities
- Monitor for signs of seizures and respond according to medical protocols
- Offer frequent verbal prompts to help foster independence
- Collaborate with school staff and communicate regularly with program supervisors
- Adjust to a flexible schedule, assisting two to four days per week as assigned
