An exciting opportunity awaits a compassionate and skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) seeking a meaningful role in a school setting. Work in a dynamic environment supporting medically fragile students through a 1:1, itinerant assignment across multiple campuses. This contract position offers a consistent schedule of 30 hours per week during the full school year.
In this role, you will play a critical part in the students' daily health management and overall well-being, collaborating closely with staff, parents, and healthcare teams. You’ll have the chance to impact students' lives directly, helping them access their education safely and confidently.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active LVN/LPN license in California
- Previous experience working in schools is required
- Skilled in providing care for students ages 4-22, specifically with ASD, developmental delays, and medically complex needs
- Proficient in medical care including:
- Gastronomy tube management
- Bladder catheterization
- Diabetes care: insulin administration, continuous glucose monitoring, carbohydrate counting
- Management of hypo- and hyperglycemia
- Emergency medication administration (epi pens, Benadryl, etc.)
- Confidence training and educating staff on medical procedures
- Ability to collaborate with parents and acclimate to new student needs
- Bilingual Spanish speakers encouraged to apply, but not required
Role Highlights:
- Work closely with medically fragile students and support their access to education
- Provide staff trainings and health plan reviews
- Be available for urgent student health needs as they arise
- Rotate between students and campuses, engaging with diverse teams and learning environments
- Conduct all interviews onsite at the district office
