Make a meaningful impact in a young student's life by providing dedicated 1:1 care in a supportive elementary school environment. This contract opportunity allows you to use your expertise as an LPN in a school-based setting, working closely with a 5th grade student who requires specialized medical attention throughout the school day.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
- Active and current GA LPN license.
- Experience in a school setting providing 1:1 care, ideally with elementary-aged children.
- Proficiency in managing conditions such as seizures, and providing care involving oral suctioning, G/J-tube feedings, oxygen support, and asthma management.
- Skilled in medication administration and monitoring vital signs.
- Comfortable meeting a student at their home, accompanying them on the school bus, and supporting them at school and on their return home.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with school staff and families.
- Preference for candidates able to attend an in-person interview.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver hands-on nursing care by changing and administering g-tube feeds, managing oxygen as needed, providing oral suctioning, and monitoring vital signs throughout the day.
- Administer prescribed medications according to the student’s health plan.
- Safely meet the student at home each morning, support their transportation on the bus, assist throughout the school day, and accompany them home in the afternoon in accordance with their IEP and physician’s guidance.
- Respond efficiently to health emergencies, such as seizure activity or complications with asthma, with sensitivity and professionalism.
