Seeking a compassionate and skilled LPN to make a meaningful impact in a student’s educational journey. This contract opportunity is based near Joliet, IL, and also offers support at a campus in St. Charles, IL. The role focuses on dedicated, 1:1 nursing for a student with Down Syndrome, ensuring daily needs are met to facilitate their participation in school activities.
Utilize your nursing expertise to provide essential care that combines your technical knowledge with a nurturing approach. As the 1:1 LPN, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the student’s health needs during the school day.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current, unrestricted LPN or LVN license in the state of Illinois
- Previous experience in a school setting or working with pediatric populations preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in G-tube management and diabetic care, including insulin administration and carb counting
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn Blue Loop for student health monitoring
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with educators and families
- Ability to adapt to the needs of individual students with disabilities and require specialized care
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, 1:1 nursing support to a student during school hours
- Perform approximately eight G-tube feedings daily with careful attention to procedure and hygiene
- Monitor blood glucose regularly and document results using Blue Loop
- Administer insulin accurately and manage carb counting per medical guidelines
- Collaborate effectively with educational and healthcare teams to deliver coordinated care
- Respond promptly to health emergencies and maintain up-to-date records of interventions
