Step into a meaningful and impactful nursing role by providing 1:1 support to a remarkable 18-year-old male student with complex medical needs. This contract assignment offers rewarding challenges and ongoing consistency, as the district anticipates continued coverage through the current and upcoming school years, including summer programming.
In this position, you’ll work closely with one student, delivering exceptional care throughout his school day and during transportation to and from his educational program. Your expertise will provide peace of mind to the student, his family, and educational partners.
What you bring:
- Active Massachusetts LPN or RN nursing license
- Experience with pediatric or school-based nursing preferred
- Comfort and competence with:
- Pulmonary routines (nebulizer—3 medications, chest PT/vest, cough assist, oral suctioning)
- Assisting with full body range of motion
- Use of ceiling lifts and regular repositioning
- Familiarity with TLSO (torso brace) and AFOs (ankle braces)
- Compassion and dedication to serving students with physical and medical complexities
- Reliable transportation for travel to and from the student’s home
Role highlights:
- Direct 1:1 clinical support for the student, including riding the van with him and assisting throughout his school day
- Provide all required medical interventions and support routines
- Collaborate with educational and healthcare staff to ensure coordinated care
- Maintain accurate documentation and communication with stakeholders
Schedule:
- Approximately 40 hours per week, including summer session
- Summer: July 6 – August 7 (8:30am-2:00pm)
- School year: 7:30am-3:20pm, Monday-Friday (aligned to program schedule)
