A fulfilling opportunity awaits for a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to deliver exceptional, one-on-one care for an outgoing 18-year-old student with complex medical needs. This long-term, contract role involves supporting a student attending a specialized program and includes active participation in both summer and upcoming school year schedules.
You will begin each day assisting the student with school transportation, provide continuous 1:1 care during school hours, and accompany him safely home at day's end. This role is an excellent fit for a compassionate nurse who thrives on meaningful connections and enjoys a consistent weekday schedule. Summer hours typically run 8:00am-2:30pm (July 6 – August 7), and regular school-year hours are approximately 7:30am-3:20pm, with planning underway for extended assignment into the next academic year.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Active Massachusetts LPN or RN license required.
- Previous experience in a school, pediatric, or complex care setting strongly preferred.
- Proven comfort with full body range of motion, ceiling lifts, and knowledge of TLSO and AFO usage.
- Confident with pulmonary care routines, including nebulizer administration (multiple medications), chest PT with vest, cough assist, and oral suctioning.
- Experience supporting children or young adults with cerebral palsy, visual impairments, or gastroenterological issues highly valued.
- Professional, reliable, and committed to supporting the student both during school and transportation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 direct nursing care throughout the day, including transportation support.
- Execute prescribed medical and therapy routines safely and compassionately.
- Assist with daily hygiene, positioning, adaptive equipment, and ongoing mobility needs.
