Embark on a fulfilling short-term assignment supporting a student in need as a school-based LPN. This contract opportunity involves providing 1:1 care for a student who is wheelchair-bound, non-verbal, and experiences seizures. Your expertise will allow this student to safely participate in both morning and afternoon transportation, ensuring their well-being throughout the school commute. The position is conveniently located near Middleboro, MA, with coverage specifically in Dartmouth, MA.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Massachusetts LPN or LVN license (required)
- Up-to-date fingerprints and cleared CORI background check
- Previous experience with seizure care and wheelchair-bound, non-verbal students preferred
- Reliable, compassionate, and able to respond calmly to medical needs
- Comfortable with split scheduling and bus commutes
Primary Responsibilities:
- Monitor and provide care for the student during school bus rides (morning: 7am-9am; afternoon: 2:30pm-4:30pm, with occasional extensions)
- Administer appropriate interventions should the student experience a seizure
- Assist with safe wheelchair transfers in and out of the bus as needed
- Offer support and clear communication to transportation staff regarding medical protocols
- Maintain accurate care documentation and report any health changes to appropriate school personnel and guardians
